Chair: SIM Wee Sun
Co-Chair: CHUAH Gaik Khuan

Scope of Symposium

The purpose of this symposium is to bring together researchers working in the areas of surface science and catalysis to discuss the latest developments in the field, particularly with regard to the first principles, molecular level, bottom-up approach to understanding and engineering surfaces and catalytic materials for modern applications. Topics will cover all aspects of experimental and theoretical studies on materials of contemporary interest to academia and industry.

Topics of Interest:

  • Surface structure, dynamics and reactions
  • Functionalized surfaces and their applications
  • Self-assembly and nanostructure fabrication on surfaces
  • Chiral surfaces and catalysts
  • Biological interfaces
  • Novel catalytic materials
  • New developments in surface analysis and catalyst characterization
  • Computational modeling of surfaces and catalytic processes
